Svala Beach on Samos – Large pebbles and clear water at Kampos Vourlioton
Svala Beach lies on the northern coast of Samos at Kampos Vourlioton, east of Agios Konstantinos. With a shoreline of about 550 metres, large pebbles and clear refreshing water, it is a characteristic beach of the island’s exposed northern side.
🏖️ A long pebble shoreline
The beach is long and relatively narrow, covered with large pebbles that shine in the sun. Limited development and a natural backdrop create a quieter atmosphere than at the busiest resort beaches.
🌊 Cool water and frequent waves
The water is clean, deep and noticeably cool. Entry becomes deep fairly quickly and the northern exposure often brings waves. Strong meltemi conditions require extra care.
☀️ Facilities and organised sections
Organised areas may provide sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, changing facilities, toilets and food or drinks. Services are seasonal, so carrying water remains sensible.
🤿 Snorkelling and fishing
Clear water and rocky areas make Svala suitable for snorkelling and fishing when the sea is calm. Water shoes are useful because of the large pebbles.
🚗 Access and parking
Access is from the Samos–Karlovasi national road through a local road leading to the coast. Free parking is available and a public bus stop is within a relatively short distance.
🌅 Late-afternoon atmosphere
Open views across the northern Aegean and the afternoon light create an attractive setting, especially towards sunset. Locals and nearby guests often choose this beach.
💡 Useful tip
Check the northern wind before travelling. Morning hours usually offer calmer conditions and water shoes make entry easier.
