Petalides Beach (Kourountere) on Samos
Petalides (Kourountere) Beach lies on the northern coast of Samos in the wider Ampelos area. It is a long natural shoreline with road access and a less developed character, suited to visitors who prefer open scenery and more space.
๐๏ธ A long natural coastline
The shore extends for a considerable distance and includes mixed areas of pebbles, stones and rocks. Trees and some residences are found in the wider area.
๐ Moderate-depth water
Water is of moderate depth in several places, although the seabed is not uniform. Check the entry point carefully before swimming.
๐ฌ๏ธ Exposed to northern swell
The area receives waves directly from the north. Strong meltemi winds can make the sea demanding, while calm days reveal clean water.
โ๏ธ Limited organisation
Permanent facilities, lifeguard cover, showers or a kiosk should not be assumed. Bring water, shade and essentials.
๐ Road access
The beach can be reached from the northern coastal route and Ampelos area. Local road quality and parking conditions may vary.
๐ท A landscape for exploration
The long coast, trees and rocky sections create attractive scenery. Avoid slippery or exposed areas when waves are present.
๐ก Useful tip
Check wind and waves, wear water shoes and avoid swimming during strong northern swell.
