Kedros Beach on Samos – Pebbles, waves and an open horizon
Kedros Beach lies on the northeastern coast of Samos, between Samos Town and Kokkari. It is a long pebbled shore with a natural, alternative character, known for its open horizon, northern winds and frequent waves.
🏖️ A long natural shoreline
The beach stretches for a considerable distance and is covered mainly with medium and large pebbles. The scenery is open and understated, without dense resort development, and visitors can usually find enough space for a quieter stay.
🌊 Deep water and frequent waves
The water is clean, refreshing and becomes deep relatively quickly. Exposure to northern winds can produce strong waves. On calm days the sea is exceptionally clear, while powerful meltemi winds demand caution.
🌬️ Windsurfing and kitesurfing
Wind and open-sea exposure have made Kedros known among windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. Activity depends on the weather, but even spectators can enjoy the energetic scene from the shore.
☀️ Limited facilities
Kedros is not a fully organised resort beach. Facilities may be limited or seasonal, so bring drinking water, a hat and sun protection. Natural shade is not available along the entire coast.
🚗 Access and parking
Access is from the Samos Town–Kokkari road, followed by a local route towards the sea. A short walk may be required in places. Parking is not uniformly arranged, so vehicles should not obstruct the road.
🌅 Atmosphere and sunset
The open horizon and westward view create an attractive late-afternoon atmosphere. The beach is suited to visitors who enjoy wilder coasts, photography and a close connection with nature.
💡 Useful tip
Check the wind before setting out. A strong meltemi makes the scenery impressive but does not always allow relaxed swimming. Water shoes and a firm beach mat are particularly useful on the large pebbles.
